Negli anni '20, la farmacia fondata il 21 ottobre del 1888 da Julius Meister si occupava già delle necessità dei fotografi vendendo vari modelli di fotocamere e un'adeguata gamma di prodotti fotografici. È grazie all'entusiasmo e alla visione di Claus-Peter Meister che il marchio LEICA ha giocato un ruolo di primaria importanza nell'offerta dei prodotti.
La strategia messa a punto negli anni '70 ha puntato tutto sulla qualità, l'esclusività e, naturalmente, il servizio. Si potrebbe dire che veniva anticipato l'attuale concetto di ‘Leica Boutique’ concentrato sull'ideale presentazione di un singolo marchio. L'ampio magazzino permetteva di fornire tutto ciò che Leica aveva in pronta consegna. Questo principio caratterizza ancora la filosofia dell'impresa ‘Meister’ e rende l'azienda l'indirizzo Leica più competente in Germania e non solo – una vera storia di successo.
Ancora oggi, Martin Meister porta avanti la visione tradotta in realtà dal padre e, nel 2001, ha aperto un Leica Store separato ad Amburgo-Eppendorf, una delle zone più note e prestigiose della città. Qui, al 64 di Eppendorfer-Landstrasse, chi si avvicina a Leica e gli appassionati di vecchia data trovano tutto quanto possa soddisfare i desideri del cuore. Il faggio scuro degli armadi a parete e del bancone e i rivestimenti in pelle di qualità fanno contrasto con le vetrine e il celeste del retro degli armadi. Il pavimento in ardesia naturale crea un'atmosfera unica, particolare anche rispetto a quanto prescritto da Leica a Solms e Wetzlar.
